PLANS are well in place for this year's giant Bendigo National Swap Meet, a major event for motoring tinkerers and enthusiasts. To be held at the Prince of Wales Showgrounds on November 15th-16th, the swap meet boasts more than 1600 reserved sites, both indoor and outdoor. The event is organised by the Veteran, Vintage and Classic Club of Bendigo in association with the Federation of Veteran, Vintage and Classic Vehicle Clubs. The special display for this year will be vintage caravans, housed in the showgrounds' Exhibition Centre. Other highlights will include a show and shine display on the Saturday only, including eligible club and special vehicles. Cars must be more than 25 years old and in reasonable show condition and entries will be accepted on the day. Sunday will have cars for sale, with no restriction on the age of vehicles, though they must be driveable (no trailers). Would-be sellers can enter through Gate 3 before 9am. The swap meet will have a large number of trade and club stands, engines from the Bendigo Steam and Oil Engine Preservation Group and a motorbike display by the Ulysses Club. There will be full on-site catering by a number of non-profit volunteer groups, plus an extensive toy and model car show. Entry to all displays is free after admission to the swap meet
